This course , Design for All Beings : Engaging with more than Human Species, has pushed my understanding and practices as a designer. In focusing the work outside of a human-centric perspective, it has allowed me to learn more from, about and with the land. For the entirety of the semester course, we are to work on a self directed project based on a being of our choosing. At the start of the course I have chosen polypore as my being to design around but through research and development, I made the natural shift to focusing on mycelium networks. Values I wanted to communicate through my project is that of care
and connection. This would include enabling actions of relationship building with other humans and the surrounding environment. Inspired by this I sought to create a ritual and supporting artifact to allow for these entanglements. Overall, this was an experimental project that focused more on process.
