Looking at the spaces and objects that surrounded this
ritual, especially viewing tableware as cultural artefacts and
the different implications of eating . There is a beauty in the
everyday spaces of a dining table and the act of eating is also accompanied by the opportunity for play, transformation, evolution and the sharing of cultures. The end output of “Langgam” has culminated itself as a collection of cultural artefacts that marries both wood and metal which can be served, shared and enjoyed. This includes a series of wooden lathed dinnerware that can only be utilized in conjunction with a metal receptacle, encouraging the act of togetherness over the sharing of a meal. This project received the Wood Co- Op/Forestry Innovation Investment in Wood Design Industrial Design Graduation Award during the Emily Carr University 2023 Show.
Material: Cherry wood, stainless steel + Copper
Processes : Rhino 3D modelling, wood turning + MIG welding
