Bawa-Bawa
Project type
Textile Design
Location
Jakarta, Indonesia
Date
2021
Through the means of the project, the process of textile production was explored from the ideation, experimentation and its fabrication. The prompt of the project was to design and create a waistbag that would be a commercially viable product, made with manufacturing standards held in place. My interpretation of the waistbag , which I named the ‘Bawa-bawa’ bag, was designed for the average city person on-the-go. It is made to accomodate everyday activities and can survive urban environments from public commute, rain, pollution to the unfortunately occasional pickpocket. With this being said, my aim for the waistbag is to be able to hold all of one’s necessities whilst merging utility, safety, versatility and fashion together.
